A ten-day tour of inquiry in the Po Valley by Benjamin Brook, one of the Joint Distribution Committee representatives in Rome, has disolosed that some 8,000 stateless Jews are now in Allied – controlled Italian camps. Dr. Joseph C. Hyman, J.D.C. executive vice-chairman, said today. Most of the group were formerly interned in concentration camps in Southern Germany and Austria, including Ebensee, Munich, Mauthausen and Adcha, according to the report. Orphaned children between the ages of 12 and 16 number in the hundreds. Mr. Brook reported that he was expanding the J.D.C. program for Jews in Italy.
