Jewish religious leaders have been invited by Secretary of Defense Robert A. Lovett to participate in a national orientation conference for leaders of all faiths at the Pentagon, January 15-17.
The Jewish representatives include Rabbi Max D. Davidson, chairman of the Division of Religious Activities of the National Jewish Welfare Board; Rabbi Samuel Belkin, head of Yeshiva University; Rabbi Louis Finkelstein, head of Jewish Theological Seminary, and Rabbi Nelson Glueck, head of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
The conference will familiarize the religious leaders with the status and problems of the military establishment and specific religious and moral programs will be discussed. A review of the current military and political situation throughout the world will take place. Speakers will include Sec. Lovett, Gen. Omar Bradley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs, Gen. J. Lawton Collins, Chief of Staff, Secretary of the Army Frank Pace, Jr., Secretary of the Navy Dan A. Kimball.
