Werner Nachmann, and the general secretary, Alexander Ginsburg, were among the limited number of personalities who attended an intimate reception to mark the 55th birthday of the President of the Federal German Republic, Walter Scheel. The presence of Nachmann and Ginsburg was seen here as a mark of friendship for the Jewish community and also, beyond it, for Israel, as the community and its leaders are Zionists.
