The Jewish schools throughout Palestine were reopened today after a long controversy over salary arrears and guarantees for future salaries.

The dispute with the teachers has now been settled, it was announced.

At one stage of the controversy the teachers besieged the offices of the Jewish Agency Executive, stationed pickets there for two days and refused to leave until efforts to meet their demands were promised.

The teachers objected to have the arrears in salary paid over a period of five years.

The compromise plan suggested by the Executive was that the arrears be paid over a three year period.
