Minority schools are considered Turkish schools, a high official in the Ministry of Education told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency’s correspondents, in connection with the law that children between the ages of seven and twelve whose parents are Turkish citizens must be educated in Turkish schools. This means that the Jewish schools can continue. The draft of the new law is apparently aimed only at the missionary schools which are not considered as minorities, particularly since the language of instruction in these schools is not Turkish and their education is considered anti-national. Lately the Jewish schools have lost many students to the missionary schools, but they will now be compelled to return to the Jewish schools.
