Announcement is made by Dr. Cyrus Adler, the Chairman, that the Jewish Committee on Scouting has been merged with the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, and now becomes an advisory Jewish committee of the National Scout Council.

“The step was taken,” Dr. Adler said, “for the coordination of all the forces engaged in the larger program of the Jewish Committee which consists mainly of promoting Scouting among the American youth.” The activities of the Jewish Committee which consist mainly of promoting scouting among Jewish people in their communal organizations in the United States are being continued under the auspices of the Committee on Relationships of the Boy Scout National Council. Similar coordination of work among the Protestant and Catholic groups is being arranged for through the Boy Scout Committee on Relationships so that all of this work will be directed from the headquarters of the Boy Scouts of America.

The Jewish Committee on Scouting was organized four years ago largely at the instance of the late Mortimer L. Schiff, a charter member of the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, and at the time of his demise a year and a half ago, the President of the Boy Scouts of America.

Philip W. Russ, who was the executive director of the Jewish Committee on Scouting, has become Assistant Director of Relationships of the Boy Scouts of America and will continue in the service of promoting Scouting among Jewish boys and with the various co-operating Jewish organizations.
