A resolution calling for the admission of a maximum number of displaced persons to the United States on a non-discriminatory basis was adopted here today at the closing session of the national Conference of Jewish Social Welfare Which was attended by 1,000 delegates.
Other resolutions pledged full support to the new Jewish state and commended President Truman for his swift recognition of the Israel Government, urged the massage of legislation to ensure the establishment of a permanent F.E.P.C. and approved the extension of the social security system. Samuel Levine, of Chicago, was elected president of the Conference, succeeding Louis Sobel, of New York, Herbert H. Aptekar was elected secretary and Max Engler treasurer.
