The fifth annual convention of the Jewish Socialist Federation was opened here yesterday at the Labor Lyceum, which was recently opened. B. C. Vladeck, manager of the “Jewish Daily Forward,” was the principal speaker at the first session.
A. Litvack in his report to the convention described the difficulties under which the Federation has to carry on its work. The organization is continually between two fires, he stated, and must fight on two fronts–on one hand Communism, a marsh over which misleading lights hire, and on the other hand a large mass of the indifferent and disappointed who do not wish to know of Communism or of Socialism. The worst in this camp are not those who have become sober, but those who have never been intoxicated with an ideal. It was due to the cynics’ influence that the pupils of Moscow were in a position to temporarily mislead the masses and to disorganize the unions. Mr. Litvack declared.
