Resolutions calling for closer ties with Arab and Moslem students in France, and with Catholic colleagues, were adopted today at the concluding session of the annual congress of the Union of Jewish Students in France, held at Montpelier.
Better relations with Arab and Moslem students in this country, the Jewish students decided, could help the achievement of peace in the Middle East as well as relaxation of tensions in North Africa. Welcoming the end of Franco-Algerian warfare, the students, many of them of Algerian origin, called for improved relations with their Moslem comrades in Algeria.
On relations with Catholic students, the Union took note of the spirit of cooperation developed at the first session of the Ecumenical Council at the Vatican. Committees were appointed to draft reports on Jewish student cooperation with Arabs, Moslems and Catholics, with instructions to report to the next national congress a year from now.
