Jewish students staged a demonstration in front of the Soviet Embassy here to protest the repression of Soviet Jewry. The students demanded the release of Ilya Ripps, a young Latvian Jewish mathematics student who allegedly immolated himself in Riga in protest against Soviet persecution of his people. There has been no confirmation of the incident. Police, called by Embassy officials, dispersed the crowd.
