Making their support of the government dependent on the fulfillment of the promises made the Jewish people, Deputy Joseph Fisher, on behalf of the Jewish Parliamentary Club, gave expression to the rejoicing of the Jews in Roumania at the ascension to the throne by King Carol. The Club, however, the deputy stated, cannot express its confidence in the new government without reserve in view of those acts of the Maniu government which shattered the hopes of the Jews.
He demanded more vigorous steps by the government against the militant anti-Semitism which manifests itself throughout the country and the enactment of the nationalization law which has been promised repeatedly; more serious measures to improve the economic condition of the country, and the enactment of the promised school laws were among the other demands made by Deputy Fisher in his address.
