Jewish survivors of the Nazi concentration camps marked today the fifteenth anniversary of the first transport of Jews from France to the Auschwitz camp by demonstrating against designation of Lieut. General Hans Speidel as commander of North Atlantic Treaty Organization fround forces.
Speidel was chief of staff of the German Army in France during the Nazi occupation.
The Jewish groups held a memorial meeting. Later, there was a well-attended open-air meeting at the Arc de Triomphe at which prominent French personalities spoke and condemned the Speidel appointment which places French soldiers under command of an ex-Nazi officer.
