Wolfe Busell, the London taxi driver who last month refused to accept as a passenger Francoise Jordan, wife of the British fascist leader Colin Jordan, was reprimanded today by the taxi licensing authority of Scotland Yard, which sent him an official reminder that drivers must accept all passengers regardless of their color, race or creed.
Busell had been fined by a London court for “insulting” Mrs. Jordan when he told her, “I don’t want you; I’m a Jew, you stinking Nazi.” He said he tore off her swastika-decorated neckless after she told him, “If you are a Jew, what are you doing out of the ovens?” After the incident, arsonists set fire to Busell’s house while his family was asleep inside. No one was injured.
Mr. Busell, meanwhile, left today for Israel for a two-week holiday. He said before his departure that he had been upset by “the harassing of Nazi-minded hooligans.”
