A revised budget for 1927 was passed at the sitting of the Town Council. The budget amounts to £E73,654. The central groups abstained from voting when the Budget was passed.
By a majority of 15 to 8 the Council has decided to establish a scale of salaries for the members of the staff similar to that existing in the institutions of the General Jewish Labor Federation.
Mr. Rokah, the Vice-Mayor, said that a way will be found not to cut the Council’s contributions to the cultural institutions of the town.
Mr. Tversky, former head of the Financial Departmertment of the Municipal Council, has resigned from the Council. His activities had aroused much dissatisfaction among the non-Socialist groups of the Council.
Twenty-six members of the Municipal Staff have been discharged with a view to effecting economies.
Strenuous efforts are being made by the representatives of the Vaad Leumi, National Council of Palestine Jews, Dr. Thon and Mr. David Yellin, in order to bring about a concilation between the various parties in the Town Council.
