The opening celebration of the American Jewish Tercentenary in this city was attended by an enthusiastic crowd which over-flowed the theatre in which the affair was held. Leading civic and religious figures participated in the meeting.
Gov. Goodwin J. Knight referred to the Tercentenary as “a re-dedication of the people of the Jewish faith to continue to work with all Americans in the never-ending search for and the never-ending effort to preserve the democratic way of life. ” San Francisco Mayor Elmer E. Robinson, another speaker, also paid tribute to American Jewry.
