The Jewish Theological Seminary of America announced today receipt of a $250.000 gift from Judge Abraham Lieberman of Weehawken, N.J., to establish the “Judge Abraham Lieberman Professorship in Talmudic Exegesis.”
The donor has been a judge of the municipal court in Weehawken since 1932. He has been chairman of the United Jewish Appeal of New Jersey for 10 years and is a former vice-president of the New Jersey State Federation of Y.M. and Y.W.H.A.’s. He is a founder of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, which also has received benefactions from him. In 1963, he provided a substantial sum to New York University for a chair in Hebraic Studies.
