Jacob Blaustein, American Jewish leader, today received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America at that institution’s 66th annual commencement exercises. Mr. Blaustein was honored for his outstanding contribution to American Judaism. Also honored at the commencement was Dr. Arthur Darby Nock, Professor of History of Religions at Harvard University, who received a Doctor of Letters degree in recognition of his contribution toward contemporary religious understanding.
A total of 110 graduates received degrees today in the Seminary’s five academic departments. Jacob Sincoff, a member of the Seminary’s Board of Overseers, was awarded the Solomon Schechter medal for his “extraordinary contribution to Judaism in the United States and Canada.”
