The question of unemployment among Jewish workers in Palestine was raised in the House of Commons by Sir Robert Thomas, who also inquired as to the revenue of the Palestine government.
In reply Col. Amery stated that the revenue for the nine months ending September 1927 slightly exceeded the expenditures. The drafts estimates for 1928 show a deficit of £ 120,742. These estimates include interest of £ 170,000 on recent loans.
Sir Frederick Hail in a question directed to the Colonial Secretary urged the exclusion of Communists from Palestine. In reply Col. Amery said the government was aware of the propaganda being carried on by a small group in Palestine but the Palestine government is doing everything to counteract it. The High Commissioner has the situation in hand, he stated.
