A resolution urging the outlawing of the Communist Party by State and Federal enactment was unanimously adopted here today at the 45th annual encampment of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States.
The proposal was prt of a larger resolution which denounced Nazism and Fascism as “instruments of slavery and avowed enemies of Democracy.” The anti-Communist resolution said the party should be outlawed because “it is an alien organization which admittedly functions by direction and receives orders from Moscow and has for its aims the overthrowing of our democratic form of Government.”
The convention expressed “deepest gratification at the stand taken by both political parties in the United States on the fundamental concepts of the American way of life, by proclaiming loyalty to the principles of equality of all groups and creeds and to the spirit of fair play.”
The delegates also endorsed the defense program and pledged full support for efforts to protect the country’s democratic principles.
