The Jewish War Veterans of the United States last night adopted a resolution urging the United States naval authorities to name a new destroyer in honor of Commodore Uriah P. Levy, naval hero of the War of 1812. The resolution will be immediately forwarded to President Roosevelt and Secretary of the Navy, Frank Knox.

Uriah P. Levy, a Jew, was given the highest rank in the United States Navy during the War of 1812 when he was made a Commodore. During that war he captured or sunk twenty-three British merchant-men or men-of-war. He continued to serve in the Navy during the Civil War.
