The Jewish War Veterans of the United States has called on the House Judiciary Committee to reject a Senate bill that would restore the American citizenship of Alfred Theodor Ex, the former German-American Bundist who renounced his U.S. citizenship in 1941 to serve Adolf Hitler.
A strongly worded protest by Jesse Moss, National Commander of the Jewish War Veterans, cited the adverse reaction of the Department of Justice, which said of Ex: “When it seemed to serve his purpose best, he renounced U.S. citizenship and embraced German nationality.” The bill to readmit Ex was introduced by Senator William Langer and was passed by the Senate two weeks ago. It is now up for consideration before a House Judiciary sub-committee on immigration and naturalization.
