The military contribution of the Jews in America in every war is described in a volume published today by the Jewish War Veterans of the United States under the title “Jews in America Wars.” The authors are J. George Fredman and Louis A. Falk.
“It is out of desire to spread the truth that this book has been written,” the authors explain in their foreword. “The military contribution of the Jews to the upbuilding of nation is too little known and we believe it important at this time to retell the story of the patriotism of the Jew, not to impress our fellow Americans with the virtues of Jews, but because the facts of American history are the best answer to libels which endanger the unity of our country,”
The authors show that in every war in which America has engaged, Jews contributed men to the fighting forces above their proportion in the general population. The book carries a message from President Roosevelt to the Jewish War Veterans of the United States declaring that: “The American people need no reminder of the service which those of Jewish faith have rendered our nation. It has been a service with honor and distinction. History reveals that your people have played a great and commendable part in the defense of Americanism during the World War and prior wars, and have contributed much in time of peace towards the development and preservation of the glory and romance of our country and our democratic form of government.”
