The Jewish War Veterans refused today a request from a German army veterans group asking the JWV to use its influence to free 21 Nazi war criminals still held in prison.
“These men,” the JWV said, “are responsible for the death and destruction of millions of innocent humans, and that various boards which acted on their appeals had commuted the sentences from death–a merciful one in comparison with the tortures which they inflicted–we are convinced that it would be inconceivable to us to return them to a decent society.”
