The Jewish Welfare Board Center in Heidelberg, the home away from home for countless GI’s of all faiths, has received a new lease on life, it was announced here today by Aaron Grodsky, director of the Center.
Prompted by spontaneous appeal of thousands of servicemen, veterans, and their families, national headquarters of the JWB in New York voted recently to appropriate sufficient funds to maintain the famous center during 1955. The eleventh-hour move saved the Center which was scheduled to suspend operations in December.
In announcing the decision of JWB headquarters, Mr. Grodsky praised the Center’s contribution to the spiritual, social, and cultural life of American servicemen both Gentile and Jew. “We are very pleased to continue to provide our men with a home away from home,” he added.
