The National Jewish Welfare Board this week-end placed its entire organization, staff, resources and facilities at the unlimited command of the nation in connection with the national emergency, Irving Edison, J.W.B. president, said in a telegram to President Truman.
“Be assured that you can count on the full and unstinting support of the corps of rabbis serving as part-time chaplains, of our trained and experienced staff throughout the country, of the loyalty of our thousands of volunteers and on the use of the facilities and resources of our affiliated centers,” the wire said. “The experience and know-how we acquired in similar service during World Wars I and II and in the years between are yours to command. In the grilling test that lies before our country and all other free peoples of the world you may be confident that now, as always in times of national peril, the National Jewish Welfare Board is enlisted for the duration.”
