Marymount Mahnattan College, a Catholic-supported women’s institution, has appointed, as its first lay academic dean, a woman of the Jewish faith. She is Elaine Small Klein, 38, who lives with her husband and two children in New Rochelle, N.Y. A member of the college faculty for 16 years. Dr. Klein earned a doctorate at Columbia University and a degree from Trinity College of Speech in London.
