“Submit your Sabbath candlesticks for Soviet industrialization,” is the latest appeal of the Jewish Communists in their war on religion. Reports from White Russia state that many Jewish women are voluntarily bringing in their candlesticks and marriage rings for the industrialization fund.
At a meeting of the Jewish women of Kapulie, a resolution was adopted declaring that “we resign from the ceremony of candle blessing and we donate our candlesticks for Soviet industrial upbuilding.” In yesterday’s “Oktiabre,” a full page is devoted to the anti-religious campaign. It is declared that the synagogues in Likolm have been used for illegal meetings and that from the Slutsk synagogues anti-Soviet rumors emanate, and that therefore they should be converted.
