Education of Jewish youth to a proper appreciation of Jewish values and traditions to avoid the tragedy that occurred in Germany was urged by Mrs. Rebekah Kohut, principal speaker at the second annual institute on contemporary Jewish affairs held yesterday by the National Council of Jewish Women at the Central Synagogue Community House, 35 East Sixty-second Street.
Mrs. Kohut, president of the World Organization of Jewish Women, advised the 100 delegates from various sections of the country that “in endeavoring to improve the political, civil and social status of our people . . . not to do anything which is likely to involve our country in difficulties with other countries, but more especially not to involve any group or groups of citizens in an aggressive or un-American attitude toward other groups.”
Other speakers were Mrs. Donald Marks, Leo W. Schwartz, director of the School for Jewish Education, and Mrs. Marion Miller, newly elected executive secretary of the council. Mrs. Maurice L. Goldman presided.
