The fourteenth convention of the Jewish National Workers Alliance of America opened yesterday at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel with 275 delegates representing 110 localities and about 2,000 guests attending.
The convention expressed determination to aid in the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Speaking in behalf of the Histadruth, Palestine Jewish labor federation, Goldie Meyerson said the disturbances made work difficult but could not halt the chalutzim.
“Throughout the world,” she said, “dark forces are staging their last stand against progress Jews, too, are involved, but thanks to Palestine we are no longer helpless victims.”
David Pinski, president of the Alliance, who presided, emphasized the need for a world Jewish congress and assailed the American Jewish Committee for its opposition to the congress.
