The international solidarity of the proletariat, asserted and preached by the Socialist movement, does not hold good in the relation between the P lish and Jewish workers.
As in previous years the celebration of May 1 by the working class is a significant event in the Republic of Poland. The celebration culminates in huge street demonstrations, during which banners of the Socialist parties are carried and Socialist hymns sung.
These demonstrations, however, have to be divided into purely Polish and purely Jewish sections due to the unwillingness of the members of the Polish Socialist Party (P.P.S.) to march with the members of the Jewish Socialist parties, Bund, Poale Zion and others.
The division goes even further than this. Negotiations which have been conducted between the Jewish labor parties Bund and Poale Zion, to unite in the holding of a joint demonstration on May 1, have also failed.
