An order issued by the police today banned throughout all Austria the Poale Zion Hitachduth group and the Federation of Laboring Jews. The activities of both organizations were declared illegal.

Both groups were represented in the Vienna Jewish community, but their mandates were annulled following the crushing of the Social Democrats, in accordance with a government order.

Mendel Singer, leader of the Austrian Poale Zion, was arrested during the civil war and was released only a few days ago. The Dollfuss regime made it clear that it regarded the two Jewish workers’ groups as part of the outlawed Social Democraaic party.
