Twelve Jewish labourers have been arrested and ten have been injured, two seriously, following a baton charge by the police at the Jewish colony of Afuleh, following their refusal to disperse when called upon to do so. The Jewish labourers were claiming the right to work on the building of a road passing through Afuleh, which the Public Works Department has given to an Arab contractor, employing Arabs from outside Jerusalem. The Police Superintendent at Nazareth has refused bail for the arrested 12 Jewish labourers. They are charged with illegal assembly and resisting and striking the police. Three of the Jewish labourers are in hospital.
