Jewish Writer Gives Reception to Painleve

The elite of Vienna society was present at a reception given in honor of Paul Painleve, French statesman, who is on a visit here, by Madame Bertha Zuckerkandl-Szeps, well-known German Jewish writer.

Representatives of the Austrian government, of the diplomatic corps, artists and writers, including many Jews, were among the guests. Among those present was Madam Clemenceau, wife of Georges Clemenceau’s brother, a sister of Madame Zuckerkandl-Szeps. They are the daughters of the late Moritz Szeps, founder of the “Wiener Tageblatt,” a native of Western Galicia. The hostess is the widow of Emil Zuckerkandl, a native of Hungary, a Yeshiva student, who acquired wide fame as a Professor of Anatomy.
