More than 1, 000 young men and women took part here in a Youth Rally for Peace in the Middle East sponsored by the Jewish Youth Council, an agency of the Jewish Federation-Council of Greater Los Angeles. Principal speaker at the rally was Yehoshua Trigor, Israel Consul, who reported on the current situation in the Middle East.
The assemblage adopted resolutions calling for a demilitarization of the Middle East, the halting of military aid to the United Arab Republic, the implementation of a strong defense treaty between the United States and Israel, and a joint United States Soviet guarantee to keep Israel’s borders inviolate from Arab attack.
