Two hundred and fifty students who applied for admittance to the University of Riga were rejected. The cause of their rejection was said to be their insufficient mastery of the Lettuce language, one of the several folk languages in Europe which have gained the status of university discipline since the World War.
Ninety Jewish students were admitted to the university.
