Efforts to bring about closer ties between the Jewish youth in Latin American countries and Israel will be made next week at the first Latin American Jewish Youth Organizations conference, to be held at Montevideo, it was announced here today by Eliahu Dobkin, head of the Jewish Agency’s youth department at Jerusalem.
According to Mr. Dobkin, there are 23,000 Jewish university students in Latin America, but only several hundred are organized. The Montevideo conference, he declared, will be attended by 120 delegates from 14 Latin American countries and will discuss an agenda including expansion of Hebrew education, and establishment of territorial and regional organizations of Jewish youth.
