With unanimity of sorrow over the death of Chaim Nachman Bialik, poet laureate of the Jewish people who will be buried in Tel Aviv today, Jewish communities throughout the world will observe today as a day of memoriam for the great poet who was stricken by a heart attack in Vienna on July 4.
Heads of the Palestine government, leaders of the Jewish community in the Holy Land and representatives of many governments will take part in the services in Tel Aviv. Bialik’s body was transported to the Holy Land from Vienna.
Official honors will be accorded Bialik in Palestine today. The funeral will be conducted by the Jewish National Council.
In the United States the larger memorial meetings will be held in New York, Philadelphia and Chicago.
Noted Jewish leaders will gather here tonight at Carnegie Hall in services sponsored by the Zionist Organization of America in conjunction with almost every Jewish and Zionist group of the city.
Joseph Sprinzak will represent the Jewish National Council of Palestine, while Louis Lipsky and Berl Locker will speak in behalf of the World Zionist Executive. Other noted Jewish leaders are expected to address the meeting. Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization of America, will preside.
