Renewed alarm over possible anti-Semitic disturbances is being felt by the Jewish population of Bukowina and especially Bessarabia as a result of new attacks on Jews and a revival of the anti-Semitic agitation inspired by the acquittal of Zelea Codreanu, anti-Semitic student leader. In Kishinev, Galatz and other Roumanian cities Jews were attacked yesterday and today in the streets.
The anti-Semitic students are again going through the villages inciting the peasants against the Jews with little hindrance from the local authorities. In Bessarabia, Carol Danila and Nicolai Totu, anti-Semitic student leaders for whom the police have been searching for a fortnight, are freely making the rounds of the villages and spreading their anti-Semitic propaganda.
On the other hand there are a number of Jewish leaders here who feel that the situation is not dangerous and warrants no fear in view of the fact that a number of members of the Maniu cabinet who have been particularly active in working to check the anti-Semitic movement, have now decided to take their long postponed vacations and have left Bucharest.
