Both Jews and Arabs paid tribute to Sir Ronald Storrs, former governor of Jerusalem, at public receptions given in his honor, prior to his departure to Cyprus where he will assume the post of Governor General.

At a reception given by the Jerusalem municipality, Ragheb Bey El Nashashibi, the mayor of Jerusalem, praised the achievements of the former governor and presented him with a silver box.

Sir Ronald, in his address, declared that a British official dealing with Jerusalem must think of the city not only as a part of the mandated territory, but as the Holy City. “There is no promotion after having served in Jerusalem,” he declared.
