While the elections are being contested bitterly, there have been no instances of anti-Semitic propaganda directed against any of the candidates. Observers here, noting the wide range of Jewish participation in politics, pointed to this phenomenon as proof that there is no monolithic political unity among Algerian Jews, all of them being active in politics in accordance with their individual interests as citizens.
