Jews were the principal victims of a riot which occurred in a Hamburg theatre on Saturday night at the first performance of a drama named, “Youth Sickness.”
The play, by an anonymous author, called forth the displeasure of the anti-Semitic party which apparently had organized an obstruction. A gas bomb was thrown into the audience and many of the playgoers were attacked and insulted. The police had to be called in to restore order. Three hundred Hitlerites who were in the theatre and were responsible for the outbreak were rejected by the police. Among the 19 persons arrested there were two members of the Hamburg Diet, Buettmann and Brinkmann.
