Scores of Jews, including many women, were wounded yesterday when Polish students launched an anti-Semitic attack on a train traveling between Warsaw and Otwock.

The hooligans escaped by pulling the emergency cord and alighting in a field when the train stopped.

The executive of the All-Polish Federation of Labor today issued a proclamation declaring its sympathy and solidarity with the general strike called yesterday by Jewish labor groups for Tuesday as a protest against the wave of anti-Semitic excesses.

“The Federation,” the executive declared, “is determined energetically to combat the anti-Semitic forces of the country.”

Addressing the Senate today, Senator Zbierski appealed to the Government to outlaw the Nationalist (Endek) party, which is the chief instigating force behind the anti-Semitic campaign and violence in Poland.

That his appeal will be heeded is considered extremely unlikely, however, since the Government is not strong enough to combat the Endeks successfully. Moreover, many Government supporters are avowedly anti-Semitic.

It was authoritatively learned today that the Government has refused to approve the by-laws of the League for Combatting Anti-Semitism in Poland, recently formed by Dr. Michael Ringel, former Jewish Senator.
