Statement Attributed to Vice-President of Budapest Jewish Kanzlei (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

What is alleged to be support for the numerus clausus policy in Hungary was secured by the Hungarian circles sponsoring the policy in a statement issued by one of the leaders of the Orthodox Jewish community of this city.

Mr. Hartstein, vice-president of the Orthodox Jewish Kanzlei, is purported to have declared to the government that the Jewish community agrees on the necessity of a numerus clausus law, objecting merely to the fact that it refers only to Jews, because the Jews are not a separate race but Magyars of the Jewish faith.
