The Jews of Palestine expect the United Nations to issue an injunction against the expansion of British military power in the Middle East, Meir Gressman, president of the United Zionists-Revisionists of American, told a press luncheon today following his return to the United States after spending nearly six months abroad and five weeks in Palestine.

“They look to the United Nations to neutralize this danger zone by assuming control and securing both the peaceful development of the Jewish Commonwealth and the economic well-being of the entire Middle East,” he declared. “They are also of the opinion that the United States, precisely because of its interests in the Middle East and its traditional friendship for the Jewish cause, must take action to curb warfare in Palestine.”

Gresman said that he found all sections of Palestine Jewry “determined to prevent the execution of a policy which would block the free transformation of the country into a Jewish State,” British attempts to strangle the economy and check the growth of the country are strongly resisted, he stated. “Breaks in the British blockade and direct attacks on British military installations are likely to continue so long as Mr. Bevin seeks to subdue the Jewish people by brute force,” be predicted.
