Three Jews of the Beit Vegan suburb have been sentenced respectively to a ten-pound fine and one and two months’ imprisonment, for having harbored illegal Jewish immigrants. The newcomers had landed from an Egyptian sailing vessel south of Jaffa, were seen by Bedouins who attacked them, and were rescued by Jewish residents of a nearby Jewish settlement. When the police arrived, three of the unauthorized immigrants could not be found. Later they were discovered hiding with the three Jewish settlers.
