The Canadian Jewish Congress and the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society of Canada presented a joint brief to Minister of Immigration Mrs. Ellen Fairclough requesting liberalization of regulations referring to entry into Canada of potential immigrants from Europe and Africa. The Jewish delegation included Saul Hayes, CJC executive director, and J. Seagall, JIAS president.
Meanwhile, it became known that Canadian legislation providing for processing of immigration applications of first degree relatives now resident in Israel have become effective. Eligible for entry are husbands, wives, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, grandparents, unmarried nieces or nephews, or persons affianced to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
