The Maccabi organization of Eire today opened a new gymnasium here. The building, which cost 20,000 pounds to construct, was dedicated at a ceremony attended by Chief Rabbi Immanuel Jakobovitz, the Mayor of Dublin, Education Minister S. Moylan and various other leaders of the government and the Jewish community.
Speakers at the affair paid tribute to the role of the Jews in the development of the country’s cultural and industrial life. At a banquet later celebrating the opening. Rabbi Jakobovitz expressed the sympathy of Eire’s Jews for the Israeli people now under “murderous attack by the armed forces of Jordan and other countries.”
