Jewish communities throughout England today observed the third anniversary of England’s entry into the war by holding special prayers in the synagogues attended by thousands of civilians as well as by members of the armed forces.
Delivering a special prayer for the victory of the United Nations, Chief Rabbi Joseph Hertz said that “ours is a faith which knows that men and nations fighting for spirit are indestructible as is their spirit.” He also broadcast a special message to American Jews over a trans-Atlantic hook-up.
