Declaring that “the Jews in Europe must be looked upon as partisans of the United States,” the Deutsche Zeitung, leading Nazi newspaper for the countries of Southeastern Europe, reaching here today, carries an article calling for new measures against the Jews of Rumania, Bulgaria and Yugoslavia.
“There has not been any trial of persons accused of espionage for the Allies – or any act of sabotage – in which Jews have not played a large part,” the paper writes. “Jews are involved in all the attempts to disintegrate the local population and in all plots hostile to the State. They must be considered allies of our enemies upon whom they set their last hope.”
As an example of “Jewish impudence” the Nazi paper quotes a letter written by a Jew in Rumania to the Porunca Vreme, the most notorious anti-Semitic organ there, stating that despite all persecutions the Jews still feel like men confident of being triumphant when the war ends.
