American Jews were urged to continue their aid to the needy Jews in Europe, and to help maintain their vocational training institutions, in an appeal made here today by Dr. Aron Syngalowski, chairman of the executive of the World ORT Union.
Speaking at a press luncheon, Dr. Syngalowski said that Jews in Europe are very much disturbed by the possibility that American aid to their institutions will be greatly reduced in the coming year. Dr. Syngalowski spoke enthusiastically of the progress of the ORT work in Israel and announced that there are 1,200 students learning trades in ORT institutions, which are of great importance to Israel’s economy.
